SPACEPOL Photographic ExhibitionExhibition "Intimate Geography of Capitals: Dreams of the State, Lives of Citizens" May 26th - September 21th 2026 A photographic and cartographic journey into the heart of the capitals of power. Looking beyond the official images, this exhibition takes you through the streets of Ankara, Astana, Abu Dhabi and Cairo. It tells a dual story: that of the regimes which build cities to assert their authority, and that of the inhabitants who live there, endure them or subvert them. Between spectacular urban planning and everyday practices, between monumental symbols and invisible appropriations, come and explore the contested and fascinating fabric of these cities where politics is written in stone and concrete. The exhibition approaches these capitals not merely as administrative centres, but as stages where the spatial strategies of power, narratives of national identity and the everyday lives of residents take shape. Through a visual narrative woven from Ankara, Astana, Abu Dhabi and Cairo, it invites us to read the urban landscape as a political text. By juxtaposing representations of authority with their fissures, it spans a spectrum from monumental architecture to the rough edges of everyday life. Here, photography makes palpable the tension between globalising visions and the local practices of residents. Urban space thus ceases to be a mere backdrop and becomes the active subject of a political conflict, calling upon the visitor to adopt a critical awareness. Practical Information
